When I first started learning about meditation, it was mostly a tool for relaxation that I would try when I needed it. That changed when I started to attend classes at Dharma Jewel Monastery. The mediation classes and Dharma talks have allowed me to learn more about Buddhism and develop a deeper practice. The meditation classes have helped me to maintain a consistent meditation practice and become more mindful of the way I live. I am more aware of how my thoughts can affect my mood. This awareness has helped me take every moment as it comes and not let my thoughts about the past or worries about the future affect how I live now. I try to be present in my life whether at work or when spending time with my family. It is a work in progress and I continue to deepen my practice and apply what I learn in class in my everyday life. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to learn.
